Half way through the year now and our Japan topic is all wrapped up and finished, our new topic is the Northern Island city of Belfast.
We started our topic with a packed Arts’ Week in which we looked at different artwork all with links to Belfast and Northern Ireland. We first created a nautical, underwater themed piece of artwork and experimented with different ways of adding texture and effects to water colour paints. Our next task was to look at famous landmarks and buildings within Belfast itself and then use the painting skills we had learned to recreate these buildings.
Now that Arts’ Week is all done, we will be moving on to looking at both the History and Geography of Belfast itself in comparison with Paulerspury. After the Easter Holidays, we will be starting a special historical investigation about the tragedy of the Titanic’s ill-fated maiden voyage as this technological marvel was engineered and built in the Belfast Docks.
